Sri Lanka's Department of Motor Traffic has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp hotline to allow the public to submit complaints about vehicle registration issues and traffic-related concerns.

The Department of Motor Traffic has established a new WhatsApp-based complaint system accessible via the number 074 245 3300, according to announcements from the department. The service was introduced by the Commissioner of Motor Traffic to provide a direct channel for citizens to report concerns related to motor vehicle operations.

Complaints submitted through the platform may address issues including delays in vehicle registration, procedural irregularities, and public disturbances caused by vehicles. The department has specified that submissions should be made via written messages only through the WhatsApp channel.

According to NewsFirst, the initiative operates under the theme "Tell the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic," framing the service as part of a broader accountability effort. The department has requested that the public use the channel exclusively for message submissions rather than other forms of communication on the platform.
