The Sri Lankan Police have announced that they have decided to destroy the large quantity of drugs seized by the police at the Puttalam - Wanathavillu crematorium today (27) following the completion of the court proceedings. The police said that the drugs seized by the Police Narcotics Control Unit and those under the custody of the Government Chemical Analyst's Department in accordance with orders issued by courts islandwide will be destroyed today, following the completion of the court proceedings at the Negombo Magistrate's Court. Accordingly, 13 kilograms 22 grams of ice, 2 kilograms 30 grams of cocaine, 39 kilograms 710 grams of kush, 156 grams of heroin, 4 kilograms 136 grams of cannabis and hashish, 1 kilogram 200 grams of meth, and 26,262 narcotic tablets will be destroyed by burning. The police further stated that this large amount of drugs will be transported from the Negombo court premises under heavy security to the Puttalam-Wanathavilu crematorium, where they will be completely incinerated and destroyed.
