Sri Lankan police have announced that they plan to destroy a large amount of drugs seized in closed court cases today (27). The matter will take place at the Wanathavillu Incinerator in Puttalam. In this context, the drugs include those seized by the Police Narcotics Division in cases closed at the Negombo Magistrate’s Court and those kept at the Government Analyst’s Department following destruction orders issued by courts across the country. In addition, the drugs were to be transported from the Negombo court premises to the Wanathavillu Incinerator prior to the destruction process, the police said.
