By Dinasena Ratugamage Police arrested nine persons over the weekend following clashes between a group of persons cutting down trees in a forest reserve at Akkarayankulam, Kilinochchi, and Wildlife Department officers. Sources said that four Special Task Force (STF personnel received injuries when they intervened in a bid to bring the situation under control. Wildlife personnel have responded after having received information regarding illegal activity at Mukkanpan, Akkarayankulam. At one point STF personnel fired into the air after an alleged attempt was made to grab their weapons. Those who sustained injuries were admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital while Akkarayankulam police apprehended nine persons over the incidents.
