A National People's Power member serving on the Vadamarachchi Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested following an alleged incident involving damage to security equipment at a private residence in Nelliady.
Nelliady Police arrested a National People's Power (NPP) member of the Vadamarachchi Pradeshiya Sabha in connection with an alleged incident of property damage, according to police statements. The arrest relates to the damaging of a security camera at the residence of a retired government official in the Nelliady area.
The retired official filed a complaint with local police regarding the incident. Following the report, officers responded to the scene and apprehended individuals suspected of involvement in the alleged damage. The suspects were brought to the police station for questioning as part of the investigation.
After the initial questioning, the arrested individuals were released on police bail pending further legal proceedings. They have been instructed to present themselves before court on March 31st.
