The postponement of the North Western Province term examinations for Grades 6 to 11 was caused by a delay in printing the examination papers, Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa said. Speaking to the media, Kaluwewa clarified that the examinations are conducted by the Provincial Ministry of Education and not by the Ministry of Education. “This is actually a programme implemented by the Provincial Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education is not directly involved. According to the information available to me, the examinations were postponed because of a problem with printing the question papers, which resulted in a delay in receiving papers for several days,” he said. Kaluwewa said the ministry had been informed of the issue and that the examinations are expected to resume from 21 July. “As I understand, the examinations will recommence from the 21st. There is still sufficient time, as the school term has about two weeks remaining, so the examinations can be completed,” he added. The North Western Province term examinations for Grades 6 to 11 were postponed after question papers failed to reach schools on schedule. (Newswire)
