Orion City has commenced construction on Orion Tower II, a 300,000 square-foot premium office development expected to be completed by January 2029, marking a major expansion of the integrated business destination in Colombo.
Orion Development has begun construction on Orion Tower II, a significant commercial office project designed to address growing demand for high-grade workspace in Sri Lanka. The new tower will provide approximately 300,000 square feet of premium Grade A office space and is scheduled for completion in January 2029, according to the developer.
The project, masterplanned by Singapore-based DP Architects, will integrate seamlessly with the existing Orion Tower I to create combined floor plates of around 36,000 square feet. The development will feature 180-degree panoramic views of Colombo and column-free floor designs intended to maximise flexibility for tenant operations. The tower is being designed to achieve LEED Platinum Certification, reflecting an emphasis on sustainability and international workplace standards.
Orion City has positioned the expansion as part of its broader strategy to create an integrated business ecosystem. Beyond office space, the development is intended to support an expanding range of amenities and services already available at the site, including childcare facilities, electric vehicle charging, dining options, fitness and wellness centres, and retail spaces. According to the developer's statements, the project reflects confidence in Sri Lanka's economic prospects and aims to attract both multinational corporations and local enterprises seeking world-class commercial infrastructure.
Milinda Wickremeratne, Chief Operating Officer of Orion Development, described the project as a "significant milestone" in the company's long-term vision for Sri Lanka's commercial real estate landscape. The expansion represents the next phase of Orion City's growth strategy following nearly two decades of operations in the Colombo business district.
