Sri Lanka's export sector has welcomed more than 1,000 new exporters, with the Export Development Board implementing training initiatives to support their transition, according to the board's chairman.

The Export Development Board has reported a significant expansion in Sri Lanka's exporting community, with over 1,000 new exporters recently joining the sector. According to Mangala Wijesinghe, chairman of the board, this growth reflects ongoing efforts to broaden the country's export base across various industries.

To facilitate this expansion, the board has launched continuous training programs designed to help entrepreneurs develop the capabilities and knowledge required to operate successfully in export markets. These initiatives aim to bridge gaps in expertise and provide practical support for businesses transitioning from domestic-focused operations to international trade.

Wijesinghe emphasized that small and medium-scale exporters have been prioritized in the board's development strategy.
