The owner of a popular Kottu restaurant chain in Sri Lanka, who was arrested earlier today (30), has been released on bail following his production before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court. He was taken into custody by Maharagama Police in connection with CCTV footage that circulated widely on social media, showing him inhumanly assaulting an employee at one of his outlets. According to the Police, the suspect was handed over to Maharagama Police this morning and later produced before court. It is reported that the court released the suspect on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000 each. The arrest and subsequent bail follow extensive investigations launched after the footage drew strong public criticism and prompted a special inquiry by Maharagama Police. (Newswire)
