A discussion with the Sri Lanka Transport Board and private vehicle owners who provide transport services for school students was held today (16.01.2025) at 10.30 am at the Government Agent's Office under the chairmanship of the Government Agent, Mr. Maradalingam Pratheepan.
During this discussion, the disruptions in the transport services of school students were discussed in detail and the following decisions were taken. 1. The timings of the Sri Lanka Transport Board and private vehicles for school students coming from Colombo to Jaffna city have been adjusted. 2. The timings of the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus service for school students coming from Marudangerini Kattaikkad to Uduthurai and the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus service for school students coming from Usan Kerpeli areas to Chavakachcheri town have been adjusted according to the school hours of the school students. 3. It was also decided to ensure with the relevant officials that the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus service coming to Jaffna town via the Achuveli highway operates in a way that does not cause any disruption to school students.
