Sri Lankan government schools and government-approved private schools have begun the second phase of their third term for 2026. According to reports, these educational activities commenced on either September 7 or 8 (sources differ on the exact date) and will continue nationwide until December 4, 2026.
The second phase of the third term will operate across all qualifying institutions throughout the country during this period. Following the completion of the term, the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level examinations for 2026 are scheduled to begin on December 8 and continue through December 17.
The coordinated timing of the term completion and examination schedule suggests a planned transition from classroom instruction to formal assessment periods for students at the ordinary level.
