A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 made an emergency landing at Mashhad airport after a wheel tyre came loose shortly after take-off, triggering engine problems and severe vibrations that damaged the cabin interior. No injuries were reported.
A Sepehran Airlines Boeing 737 travelling from Mashhad to Kermanshah in Iran was forced to return to its departure airport for an emergency landing shortly after take-off on September 15, following what has been reported as a tyre failure on one of the aircraft's wheels. According to CNN-News18, the tyre detachment triggered an engine malfunction and caused severe vibrations throughout the aircraft.
The pilot alerted passengers to the engine problem after detecting the wheel tyre issue. The violent shaking that followed reportedly caused structural damage to parts of the cabin ceiling and overhead compartments, with passengers' belongings dislodged from storage bins and falling onto those seated below. Social media footage from inside the cabin showed passengers in visible distress, with some praying and expressing fear about the aircraft's safety during the incident.
The pilots subsequently turned the aircraft around and navigated it back to Mashhad airport, where it landed safely without further incident. Preliminary reports indicated that no passengers sustained injuries as a result of the emergency landing or the in-flight structural damage. According to Gulf News, the incident marks the second recent occurrence involving a Sepehran Airlines aircraft at Mashhad airport, though no details about the previous incident were provided in available reports.
