Paraguay has provided the first major shock in the knockout round of the 2026 World Cup.The South American side battled to a 1-1 draw with Germany before taking down the European giant 4-3 in penalties on Monday in the Round of 32.Germany appeared to score the game-winning goal in the first half of extra time, but after video review, the goal was overturned for a foul on Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill.Paraguay went in front to start the game when Julio Enciso scored on a header late in the first half. Kai Havertz equalized in the 52nd minute for Germany.The Germans, ranked 10th in the world, will head home disappointed, while Paraguay moves on to the Round of 16 and will await the winner of Tuesday's game between France and Sweden.
