In a major breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of a female physiotherapist who died under suspicious circumstances in the Theldeniya area, an officer-in-charge of the Kundasala Police Training School has been arrested. Based on investigations conducted by the Central Anti-Corruption Unit, the officer was arrested on charges of allegedly aiding the main suspect in the case and his wife to remain absconding, police said. Meanwhile, the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court has granted permission to remand the already arrested main suspect, his wife and another suspect for 48 hours for questioning. The body of a female physiotherapist was recovered from a car parked near the Theldeniya Hospital on the 17th. A post-mortem examination later confirmed that she died due to strangulation. Following this incident, the police were actively searching for the main suspect, who is said to be the lover of the deceased woman, and he was arrested in Jaffna.
