Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that 232 suspects on Red Notice are hiding in various countries.
The Minister stated that 37 of them have been identified as organized criminals and steps have been taken to arrest and bring them back to Sri Lanka. Criminals hiding in various countries
The Minister said that in the past 20 months, 23 organized criminals have been brought to Sri Lanka through Red Notices and another 35 have been brought back without Red Notices. Accordingly, 58 people have been brought back to Sri Lanka so far.
In addition to these, the Minister disclosed that another 96 organized criminals on Red Notice are hiding abroad and they are in the United Arab Emirates, India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Russia, Italy and Saudi Arabia.
He further stated that the suspects will be arrested and brought back to Sri Lanka as soon as possible, and that legal action has been taken against those involved in the second and third stages of organized crime, he added.
