K. Bhagyaraj, renowned as a leading director, actor, screenwriter and dialogue writer in the Tamil film world, has passed away. He was 73.
It has been reported that he died of a sudden cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai due to ill health. His demise has left the Tamil film industry and fans in shock.
Born on January 7, 1953 in Vellakovil, Erode district, Bhagyaraj started his film journey as an assistant director to director Bharathiraja. Later, he made his directorial debut with the film ‘Suvar Eela Chithrangal’.
Having directed and acted in many successful films including ‘Andha 7 Dakshina’, ‘Mundhanai Mudichu’, ‘Indu Poi Naali Vaa’, ‘Chinna Veedu’ and ‘Darling Darling Darling’, he made a mark in Tamil cinema with his family stories, comedy and emotional screenplays.
