Player dies after collapsing at crease during Beruwala cricket match

A 46-year-old man died after collapsing while batting during a cricket carnival organised by an old boys’ association of a school in Beruwala today. According to eyewitnesses, the player suddenly collapsed at the crease while batting. Live footage of the match, which was being streamed at the time, showed he had scored an unbeaten six runs off three balls before the incident. He was rushed for medical attention but was pronounced dead. The death is suspected to have been caused by a heart attack, although the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed.
