Farmers Insurance Board officials have stated that the assessment work is currently underway to provide Rs. 139 million as compensation for the farmlands of farmers in the Polonnaruwa district damaged by the recent floods. This was announced at the District Coordination Committee meeting held recently (13) at the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat. In this regard, the Deputy Minister of Housing, D.P. Sarath, has instructed the relevant officials to visit the farmers and conduct an assessment, the Polonnaruwa District Media Unit has indicated. This coordination committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of the committee chairman and Deputy Minister of Housing, D.P. Sarath, with the participation of several government officials representing all departments of the district.
