The Sri Lanka Police has temporarily halted the issuance of Police Clearance Certificates due to a database system breakdown at Police Headquarters, with restoration efforts underway.

The Sri Lanka Police announced a temporary suspension of Police Clearance Certificate issuance following a significant computer system malfunction. The breakdown affects the automated database system managed by the Clearance Branch, located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla, which handles application processing, report verification, and certificate printing functions.

According to Police Headquarters, the system ceased operations at 12:50 p.m. on March 20. The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has been notified of the issue, and technical teams are working to restore full functionality to the database.

The Police Media Division has requested the public to avoid submitting new applications until the system is fully operational. Prospective applicants are advised to wait for an official notification confirming that the database has been restored before proceeding with their applications. Further updates regarding the resolution timeline are expected from Police Headquarters.
