The Sri Lanka Police have successfully restored their digital data system for processing police clearance certificates following a disruption that began on August 20. Applicants who used temporary email procedures during the outage are now required to resubmit applications through the standard online platform.

Sri Lanka Police announced the restoration of their Police Clearance data system on August 22, enabling the resumption of normal application procedures for police clearance certificates. The digital platform, which handles submission of applications, report requests, and certificate issuance, had become inactive at 12:50 p.m. on August 20, 2026.

During the two-day disruption, the Police Media Division implemented a temporary workaround, allowing applicants to submit requests via email at clear.application@police.gov.lk. The Police Headquarters' Police Clearance Division, located on the 17th floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla, coordinated with the Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) to address the technical issue.

Now that operations have resumed, police authorities are asking all individuals who submitted applications through the temporary email procedure to resubmit their requests using the restored online system and complete the required payments. The Police Media Division has emphasized that applicants should transition back to the standard digital process to ensure their applications are properly processed through official channels.
