Police have detained a 24-year-old suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred during a party in the Wattala area last month, with investigators alleging he provided financial assistance to obtain a vehicle used in the incident.
Authorities have arrested a suspect linked to a shooting that took place at a gathering in Palliyawatta, Kadirana within the Wattala Police Division on July 23. The 24-year-old resident of Mukalangamuwa, Seeduwa was apprehended by officers from the Western Province North Crime Division yesterday evening.
According to police statements, the suspect is accused of providing support to those directly involved in the shooting. Specifically, investigators allege that the detainee transferred money from his personal bank account to arrange a rental vehicle that was subsequently used by the individuals who carried out the shooting.
The Western Province North Crime Division continues to investigate the matter. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding other potential suspects or the circumstances surrounding the initial shooting incident.
