Police have seized a stock of expired pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertiliser products that were allegedly being prepared for sale in the local market using fake labels. The haul, recovered during a raid in the Bomiriya area of Kaduwela on July 21, included approximately 376 kg 350 g of solid products and 1,170 L 340 ml of liquid agrochemicals. A 34-year-old suspect from Ampara New Town was arrested during the operation. Police also took into custody 4 lorries suspected to have been used to transport the products. The Consumer Affairs Authority has sealed the seized stock and vehicles, while further investigations are underway. (Newswire)
