Further investigation is underway regarding the suspect who attempted to steal a gun by obstructing the police in the Thiravandiyamodu area under the Kalmunai Police Headquarters in Ampara. According to a complaint received on 119, on the night of the incident, a constable including a sergeant-rank officer from the Kalmunai Police Headquarters had gone to the scene on a motorcycle and conducted investigations. Threatening the police During this time, the main suspect threatened and injured the police and tried to steal the gun while on duty. At that time, additional police were called to the scene and the gun stolen by the suspect was recovered and the injured police officer was admitted to the hospital in the Kalmunai area. The absconding suspect was immediately arrested and brought to the police station. During the initial investigation conducted on the suspect, he stated that he had joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in 2000 and had left in 2004. It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the suspect, who was drunk, snatched the policeman's gun, loaded it and took lessons on how to operate the gun, mockingly asking the police who trained him. The arrested suspect is said to be around 44 years old, married and has 3 children. Police are conducting detailed investigations.
