German luxury automaker Porsche has signed a five-year strategic partnership valued at €1.25 billion with Tata Consultancy Services to integrate artificial intelligence across its operations, while also selling its consulting subsidiary to the Indian firm.

Porsche has entered into a significant strategic partnership with Indian information technology company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) aimed at expanding artificial intelligence capabilities throughout the German automaker's operations. The five-year agreement, valued at €1.25 billion (approximately US$1.46 billion), will deploy AI technology across engineering, manufacturing, operations and customer experience divisions.

As part of the broader arrangement, TCS will acquire Porsche's automotive and IT consulting subsidiary MHP for €320 million (around US$373 million). MHP specialises in automotive and industrial consulting services, including business consulting and software-defined mobility solutions. The acquisition is expected to complete within three to four months.

The partnership represents a strategic move by Porsche and its parent company Volkswagen Group to manage costs during a period of significant industry transformation. Both companies are navigating increased competition from Chinese automakers, rising tariff pressures, and the substantial expenses associated with transitioning vehicle fleets to electric power. For TCS, the deal marks a notable expansion within the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence in global IT outsourcing.

The agreement will also emphasise the joint development of automotive technologies and software-defined mobility platforms, positioning both companies to capitalise on shifting demands in the automotive sector.
