Pramodya Wickramasinghe, the former chairman of Sri Lanka's National Cricket Selection Committee, has decided to pursue legal proceedings against Sri Lanka Cricket and the Cricket Transformation Committee following his contract's premature termination.
Pramodya Wickramasinghe, who headed the five-member National Cricket Selection Committee, has instructed legal representatives to take action against Sri Lanka Cricket and the Cricket Transformation Committee. Wickramasinghe claims the early termination of his tenure has caused significant damage to his professional reputation and resulted in both financial and professional losses.
Wickramasinghe was appointed to the selection committee chair in December 2025 for a scheduled two-year term alongside committee members Tharanga Paranavitana, Indika de Saram, Vinothen John, and Rasanjali de Alwis. However, the entire committee was replaced in May 2026 as part of a broader restructuring initiative affecting the national selection apparatus.
At the time of the removal, Wickramasinghe formally requested written clarification from the Sports Ministry and Sri Lanka Cricket regarding the decision. In a May 21 correspondence addressed to Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, he noted that he had been verbally informed about plans to end his contract prematurely but had not received formal written notification or detailed administrative justification for the early termination.
Following an unsuccessful attempt to resolve the matter through a formal Letter of Demand, Wickramasinghe has now opted to escalate the dispute through legal channels. The case raises questions about the procedures followed in terminating contractual arrangements within Sri Lanka's cricket administration.
