A 26-year-old pregnant woman from the Palakudawa area of Kalpitiya died on September 3 after sustaining serious injuries in an attack involving a sharp weapon. She was admitted to Kalpitiya Hospital, where she and her unborn child succumbed to their wounds, according to police.
Investigations by Kalpitiya Police revealed that the victim had separated from her husband and was living with another man at the time of the attack. Police attributed the fatal assault to an escalating family dispute between the parties involved. A 36-year-old suspect was arrested within 45 minutes of the incident occurring.
According to police, the suspect is reportedly addicted to ICE narcotics. Kalpitiya Police continue to investigate the case and conduct further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
