President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has released a message marking Milad-un-Nabi, the Islamic celebration of Prophet Muhammad's birth observed during the month of Rabi' al-Awwal. In his statement, the President called on Muslims both in Sri Lanka and globally to reflect on the spiritual significance of the occasion beyond its ceremonial aspects.
The President characterised the commemoration as an opportunity for introspection and personal transformation rather than mere celebration. He highlighted the importance of sacrifice as a central theme and stressed the need to build societies grounded in principles of equality and justice, drawing from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
