President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held talks with senior representatives from China Communications Construction Company to discuss ongoing Port City projects and potential new investments in renewable energy, logistics, and digital services.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with a delegation from China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) led by Zhang Bingnan at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday to assess current initiatives and identify fresh investment prospects centered on Colombo Port City.
The Chinese representatives indicated that the government's policy direction has become instrumental in drawing international capital to the country. According to the delegation, the administration's development agenda has motivated CCCC to pursue additional major investments in Sri Lanka.
Beyond Port City operations, the Chinese investors expressed appetite to diversify into renewable energy generation, trade and logistics infrastructure, and digital services sectors. They positioned Sri Lanka as a potential regional hub for these industries. The delegation committed that local recruitment would account for approximately 90 percent of their workforce requirements, pledging to create employment for Sri Lankan workers.
The meeting included participation from Minister of Labour Anil Jayantha Fernando, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha Fernando, Chief of Staff Prabath Chandrakeerthi, Senior Economic Adviser Duminda Hulangamuwa, and senior officials from the Colombo Port City Economic Commission and related government agencies.
