The Central Crime Investigation Unit (CCI) questioned and recorded statements from Rohitha Rajapaksa, the youngest son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, for nearly 5 hours yesterday (25) regarding an incident in which he allegedly invested Rs. 1.9 million in two business places in the Mirihana area without taking up employment. Investigations have revealed that Rohitha Rajapaksa had invested Rs. 1.9 million in a large-scale automobile repair establishment and another business place in the Mirihana area between 2018 and 2021. This investigation was conducted following a complaint filed with the CCI by the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission in this regard. Accordingly, Rohitha Rajapaksa was informed to appear before the CCI yesterday morning. Rohitha Rajapaksa appeared before the unit at around 9.30 am yesterday and statements were recorded until 2.30 pm. More people are scheduled to be questioned in the future regarding this incident.
