However, Herath cautioned that El Niño conditions currently influencing weather patterns across the island may extend into the Northeast Monsoon season next year. These conditions are expected to have pronounced effects on areas already experiencing dry weather, potentially intensifying drought-like circumstances in vulnerable regions.
Additionally, the meteorologist noted that declining wind speeds combined with elevated humidity levels could raise the perceived temperature across the country in the short term.
