Sri Lanka recorded the highest cinnamon prices in its history in May, with Alba-grade cinnamon reaching Rs. 7,000 per kilogram, according to the Department of Cinnamon Development. Director General Janaka Lindara said the record prices come as the country targets US$300 million in cinnamon export earnings this year. Sri Lanka’s cinnamon industry generated nearly Rs. 80 billion (around US$260 million) in export revenue in 2025, marking the highest annual earnings ever recorded for cinnamon and cinnamon-based products. He added that cinnamon export earnings during the first five months of this year increased by Rs. 27 million compared to the corresponding period last year, indicating continued growth in the sector.
