Sri Lankan authorities have successfully extradited a man identified as Samithpura Chathu from Oman, who was wanted on multiple serious charges including murder and drug trafficking.
An organized criminal against whom an international Red Notice had been issued has been returned to Sri Lanka following an extradition from Oman. The individual, identified as Samithpura Chathu, arrived in the country early this morning, according to Police Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler.
The suspect was transported to Sri Lanka by a specialized team from the Criminal Investigation Department. According to police statements, the extradition was coordinated between Sri Lankan authorities and officials in Oman, where the individual had reportedly been located.
Chathu faces allegations relating to a range of serious offenses. Police indicated that the suspect is wanted in connection with murder, serious criminal activities, drug trafficking, and possession of explosives. The Red Notice, an international alert system managed by Interpol, is typically issued for individuals wanted for serious crimes across multiple jurisdictions.
