Sampath Bank hosted its fifth SME Business Circle in Jaffna, bringing together entrepreneurs and business leaders to discuss growth strategies, sustainability integration, and access to innovative financial solutions.
Sampath Bank PLC organised a business forum in Jaffna aimed at fostering dialogue between small and medium-sized enterprise owners and banking leadership. The event at The Thinnai Hotel brought together SME entrepreneurs, business leaders, strategic partners and bank management to address topics relevant to business expansion and resilience in the current economic environment.
Deputy General Manager Asanka Liyanage underscored the significance of the SME sector to Sri Lanka's economic development and outlined the bank's strategy to support entrepreneurs. According to the bank, Sampath has become the first Sri Lankan bank to deploy a comprehensive artificial intelligence system specifically developed for SME banking services and customer experience enhancement.
The forum included multiple knowledge-sharing sessions. Aeshan Buddhakorala, the bank's Manager for Environmental and Social Impact, conducted a discussion on sustainability practices for businesses, covering areas such as resource management, operational efficiency and climate-related risks. Separately, Sanjaya Ariyawansa from the Strategic Planning Department provided an economic overview addressing current market conditions and opportunities for SME growth.
The event featured demonstrations by strategic partners including SULECO, Markspen Holdings and Link Agro, showcasing solutions in automation, industrial technology, geospatial services and sustainable agriculture. The bank characterized the gathering as reinforcing its position as a partner for entrepreneurs seeking knowledge, innovative solutions and strategic financial support for sustainable business growth.
