All government schools in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts will resume operations on Wednesday, according to an announcement by the Central Province Director of Education. The schools were closed on Tuesday as a precautionary safety measure following severe weather and continuous heavy rainfall that swept through both districts.
The closure decision was implemented on the instructions of the Central Provincial Ministry of Education's Secretary, with officials prioritizing the wellbeing of students and teaching staff during the dangerous weather period. As meteorological conditions have begun to improve, authorities have determined it is now safe for academic activities to recommence.
