SDIG Varuna Jayasundara leaves CID after nearly four-hour statement

Eastern Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Varuna Jayasundara has left the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after recording a statement for nearly four hours today (2). Jayasundara had been summoned to the CID this morning in connection with an investigation into his alleged links with suspected organised crime figure “Kehelbaddara Padme”. He departed the CID after providing a statement as part of the ongoing probe. (Newswire)
