The Department of Prisons has announced the appointment of Senaka Palletenna as its new Media Spokesperson, effective from today. Palletenna brings considerable institutional experience to the role, having previously served as Superintendent of Mahara Prison and held the position of Director of Training within the department.
Palletenna's educational background includes a diploma in drug abuse studies from the University of Colombo. He is an alumnus of Richmond College in Galle and has completed specialized training in correctional and rehabilitation management through a diploma programme conducted in Kerala, India.
Throughout his career, Palletenna has pursued professional development across multiple disciplines and countries. His training in drug abuse prevention and rehabilitation has been conducted in several nations, including India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Maldives, and Turkey. These qualifications reflect a focus on addressing substance abuse issues within correctional settings, an area that has been central to his professional development.
