Seylan Bank has secured recognition as Sri Lanka's Best Bank for Customer Experience for the second consecutive year and Best Bank for SMEs at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026.
Seylan Bank has received two prestigious accolades at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, an internationally recognized awards programme administered by the leading financial publication Euromoney. The bank was named Sri Lanka's Best Bank for Customer Experience for the second year running, and also received the award for Best Bank for SMEs, marking significant recognition from the global financial community.
According to the bank's Director and CEO Ramesh Jayasekara, the dual recognition validates Seylan's ongoing investment in customer-focused services and systems. The awards acknowledge the bank's efforts to support Small and Medium Enterprises across the country through purpose-built financial products and specialized services. These offerings address specific challenges faced by SMEs, including collateral constraints, energy cost pressures, and limited export expertise. The bank has also developed tailored propositions targeting women entrepreneurs to ensure consistent service access.
Seylan Bank's SME support extends beyond traditional lending. The bank offers an Eco Solar Loan programme to finance renewable energy adoption for small businesses and agricultural enterprises through strategic partnerships. Additionally, the Export Expert programme combines financing with practical guidance on export procedures, documentation, and market entry, supported by a dedicated Trade Hub in Pettah, Colombo's commercial district.
Digital innovation has paralleled the bank's product expansion. Seylan implemented an E-KYC process enabling rapid account opening and launched a Merchant Portal allowing businesses without websites to accept online payments. The bank became the first in Sri Lanka to enable Google Pay acquirer services for e-commerce merchants in 2025. Customer service improvements include an omnichannel CRM system, chatbot engagement, real-time reputation management tools, and a 24-hour contact centre to track and respond to customer requirements.
The bank has also invested in brand visibility for its SME clientele, producing the television series 'Oba Pa Nagena Maga Apa Inne' in partnership with Ada Derana for five consecutive years, showcasing over 60 SME entrepreneurial journeys.
