Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, left Sri Lanka for Singapore early Wednesday morning, days before a scheduled Financial Crimes Investigation Division summons.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa departed from Katunayake Airport at 1:10 am on September 16, according to reports from multiple sources. She was accompanied by Anne de Livera, described as either the sister-in-law or mother-in-law of her youngest son Rohitha Rajapaksa.

Rajapaksa had been admitted to a private hospital in Colombo on September 15 due to illness and was transported directly from the hospital to the airport for her departure. Police notified her at the time of boarding that she was required to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on September 24, according to reports.

The FCID has stated that Rajapaksa departed the country despite being summoned to appear before the division later in the month. According to one source, the summons relates to an investigation concerning the "Siriliya" account, though the nature and scope of this investigation remain unclear from the available reporting.

The timing of the departure—occurring within days of the scheduled appearance—has drawn attention amid the broader context of financial investigations involving former presidential family members.
