The Meteorology Department has forecast scattered rainfall and gusty winds for several provinces and districts, with residents advised to take precautions.
The Department of Meteorology predicts intermittent showers will affect the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces along with the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara Districts throughout the day. The North Western Province is also expected to experience multiple episodes of rainfall, while the remainder of the island is anticipated to remain predominantly dry.
Strong winds pose an additional concern for several regions. Wind speeds ranging between 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected to occur periodically over the western slopes of the central highlands, the Northern, North Central, and North Western Provinces, as well as in the Hambantota and Trincomalee Districts.
The Meteorology Department has advised residents in affected areas to implement necessary safety measures in preparation for both the heavy rainfall and strong wind conditions expected throughout the day.
