Sammanthurai Police have arrested six suspect riders and seized eight motorcycles linked to a viral social media video showing a group riding recklessly on a highway without protective helmets. According to the Police, the arrests were made yesterday (14), after investigations led by the Officer‑in‑Charge of the Sammanthurai Police Station identified the road as falling within the division. Police said further inquiries revealed the motorcycles had been ridden in this manner on July 11, 2026. The suspects, along with the seized motorcycles, are scheduled to be produced before the Sammanthurai Magistrate’s Court today (15).
