COLOMBO (News 1st); Six political parties representing Tamil-speaking communities across the Northern Province, Eastern Province and the Malaiyaha groups have announced a decision to work together on issues of common concern affecting their communities.The announcement was made at a joint media briefing currently being held in Colombo, where leaders and representatives of the six parties gathered to outline their commitment to collective action on matters impacting Tamil-speaking people across the country.The parties represented at the media briefing are the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), the Democratic Tamil National Alliance (DTNA), and the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC).A notable feature of the gathering was the participation of several prominent leaders whose parties are key constituents of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) alliance led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. Among them were Tamil Progressive Alliance leader Mano Ganesan, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem, and All Ceylon Makkal Congress leader Rishad Bathiudeen.Also present at the joint media briefing was Ceylon Workers’ Congress General Secretary Jeevan Thondaman, who was elected to Parliament under the United National Party-led alliance at the most recent parliamentary election.
