A team from the Ceylon Chamber's Sri Lanka–Australia–New Zealand Business Council has completed a visit to Australia, meeting with government officials and business leaders across multiple cities to identify areas for enhanced bilateral trade and investment.
A delegation representing the Sri Lanka–Australia–New Zealand Business Council (SLANZBC) has concluded a visit to Australia aimed at strengthening commercial ties between the two nations. The team engaged with Australian parliamentarians, government agencies, and business organisations across Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, according to a statement from the Ceylon Chamber.
The delegation included representatives from technology, artificial intelligence, marketing technology, venture capital, fisheries and logistics sectors. In Canberra, the team met with Federal parliamentarians including Cassandra Fernando MP, who chairs the Australia–Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Group, alongside officials from Austrade, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions addressed Australia's trade priorities, Sri Lanka's business capabilities, and the potential role of diaspora networks in expanding commerce between the countries.
The visit also encompassed meetings in Melbourne with state investment agencies Global Victoria and Invest Victoria, as well as the Food and Beverage Association and the Australia Sri Lanka Business Council. A networking event in Sydney, organised with the Chartered Accountants in Sri Lanka – Australia Chapter, connected delegates with members of both business communities.
Chandana Amaradasa, President of SLANZBC, noted that the delegation sought to reconnect with Australia's government and private sector while identifying avenues for ongoing cooperation. He indicated that discussions would support sector-specific collaboration initiatives, reciprocal trade missions, and strengthened business connections between Sri Lanka and Australia.
