Chinthaka Terence Wijeratne, chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party's Medirigiriya Electoral Organization, has been remanded in custody for seven days following his arrest on drug trafficking charges.

A seven-day detention order has been issued for Chinthaka Terence Wijeratne, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party's Medirigiriya Electoral Organization, after he appeared before court on drug-related charges. Police apprehended Wijeratne on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking activities.

The arrest took place in Hingurakgoda, where authorities intercepted Wijeratne and his wife traveling on a motorcycle. During the operation, police recovered 15 grams of heroin and 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine from the couple's possession. Both individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Wijeratne's wife has also been remanded in custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter. The case remains under police investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the trafficking allegations.
