The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) is set to host two internationally acclaimed experts at the Sri Lanka Corporate Director Summit 2026, further cementing the event’s standing as the country’s foremost platform for corporate governance and board leadership. Taking place on 22 July at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, the Summit will welcome Prof. Sir Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, UK. A distinguished academic originally from Sri Lanka, Prof. Sir Nishan was knighted in the 2026 King’s New Year Honours for his contributions to higher education. His keynote, “Future-Ready Sri Lankan Boards: Leading Through Innovation, Talent, Technology and Global Competitiveness,” will focus on how boards can position themselves for success in a rapidly evolving global business environment. Also delivering a keynote will be Edith Umole, Global Head of Talent and Career Development at the World Bank Group. In her address, “The Board’s Responsibility for Talent,” she will underscore the importance of succession planning, leadership development, and talent oversight as core governance priorities. Drawing on her extensive international experience, Umole will share strategies for strengthening leadership pipelines, enhancing resilience, and driving long-term value creation. The Summit will convene directors, chairpersons, CEOs, regulators, investors, and governance professionals to explore how boards can foster sustainable growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
