Sri Lanka Transport Board is accepting applications to fill 1,037 vacancies for drivers and conductors across its island-wide depot network on a contract basis.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has launched a recruitment initiative to fill 1,037 positions comprising 788 driver roles and 249 conductor posts across its depots throughout the country. The positions are being offered on a contract basis, with regional preference given to qualified candidates from their respective areas.
Driver applicants must be between 21 and 45 years old, have obtained at least six passes at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level with two distinctions, and possess a valid heavy vehicle driving licence held for a minimum of three years, along with meeting prescribed physical and health standards. Conductor positions require candidates aged 18 to 45 with six O.L. passes, specifically including Mathematics and their mother tongue, with at least two credit passes.
Selected drivers will receive a monthly basic contract allowance of Rs. 40,847, while conductors will earn Rs. 40,008, supplemented by a living allowance of Rs. 17,800 for both positions. Additional benefits include overtime and incentive allowances. The SLTB will contribute 12% to the Employees' Provident Fund and 3% to the Employees' Trust Fund, with employees contributing 8% to the EPF. Successful appointees will receive travel permits valid within a 30-kilometre radius of their workplace and will not face relocation after appointment.
Selection will be determined through interviews, practical assessments, and relevant training course results. Applications must be submitted by registered post to the SLTB Chief Executive Officer at 200 Kirula Road, Narahenpita, Colombo 05, with a deadline of September 7, 2026. Incomplete applications or those not adhering to prescribed formats will be rejected, and applicants must present their school leaving certificates during interviews.
