Cheque distribution event for the first phase beneficiaries of the National Housing Scheme “A Place to Own, a Beautiful Life” in Trincomalee District.
The cheque distribution event for the first phase beneficiaries of the National Housing Development Authority’s special scheme “A Place to Own, a Beautiful Life” for the year 2026 was held yesterday (30) at the Trincomalee District Secretariat Main Conference Hall.
The event, organized by the Trincomalee District Branch of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Employment Arun Hemachandra and Trincomalee District Member of Parliament Roshan Akmeemana as the chief guests and distributed cheques to the beneficiaries. Today, cheques worth Rs. 150,000 were distributed to officially commence the work for 80 houses in the first phase. In the second phase, 69 houses will be constructed under this scheme. Under this scheme, which is being implemented with the aim of meeting the housing needs in the Trincomalee district, a total of 250 houses have been allocated funds. Out of these, 149 houses that are in an incomplete state (Scattered) and 101 houses that remained incomplete under the 2015-2019 period plan have been absorbed. On this occasion, Trincomalee District Additional Government Agents S. Sudhakaran, J. Sripathi (Kani), District Manager of the National Housing Development Authority Nimal Rajasinghe, District Secretariat officials, Housing Authority officials and beneficiaries participated.
