Acclaimed musician Soundarie David Rodrigo will lead a special performance exploring the evolution of Tamil film music, featuring a lineup of vocalists and musicians performing at Bishop's College Auditorium.
A concert dedicated to Tamil cinema music will take place on 13 September 2026 at Bishop's College Auditorium, organised under the musical direction of pianist and choral director Soundarie David Rodrigo. The event, titled 'அன்றும் இன்றும் (Andrum Indrum - Then and Now)', aims to bridge musical generations by presenting both classic Tamil film songs and contemporary interpretations.
The performance will feature vocalists Chandru, Prashanthini Nishanthan, Tanuja Joseph Varghese and Prakash K, accompanied by an ensemble of musicians. The supporting lineup includes tabla and percussion players, along with bass, drums, keyboard and guitar performers, creating a comprehensive musical arrangement for the evening's programme.
Soundarie David Rodrigo brings extensive credentials to the production, having established herself as a key figure in Sri Lanka's music sector. She founded and directs Soul Sounds, a female vocal ensemble that has performed internationally at competitions including the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales and the World Choir Games. Additionally, she leads the Soul Sounds Academy, which provides musical training and performance opportunities for emerging talent.
