Intex–InMac Sri Lanka, billed as South Asia's premier textile sourcing and manufacturing platform, opened this week at BMICH Colombo, bringing together hundreds of exhibitors and international buyers.

South Asia's largest international textile sourcing and garment manufacturing technology exhibition opened in Colombo on Tuesday, with government officials and industry leaders formally inaugurating the three-day event at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

Inister of Industry & Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti, along with Yasas Hewage, Chairman of the Industrial Development Board (IDB), and Felix Fernando, Chairman of the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), led the opening ceremony. The inauguration also featured the formal launch of the Incredible Textiles of India Pavilion, highlighting India's textile capabilities and innovations.

The exhibition, running until 7 August, hosts over 250 exhibitors from more than 15 countries and regions. The event showcases a wide range of products including textile materials such as cotton, polyester and blended fabrics, dyes and chemicals, as well as garment manufacturing machinery and equipment. Digital textile printing solutions, automation technology, and commercial laundry equipment are also featured prominently.

Minister Handunnetti emphasized that industry competitiveness depends on innovation and adaptability rather than capacity alone, positioning the exhibition as a platform for Sri Lankan businesses to strengthen their global market position. The IDB has framed the event as part of its broader strategy to drive industrial transformation through innovation and creating growth opportunities for local manufacturers.
