Nearly 295,000 candidates will sit for Sri Lanka's Grade 5 Scholarship Examination tomorrow, with authorities implementing strict guidelines and security measures for the nationwide assessment.
The Department of Examinations has confirmed that the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination will take place tomorrow at 2,723 examination centres across the country. According to Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage, a total of 294,089 candidates have registered for the test, with the majority—220,366 students—sitting for the Sinhala medium examination and 73,723 for the Tamil medium.
The examination will follow a two-paper format, with Paper II scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a break and Paper I from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Department of Examinations has advised candidates to arrive at their designated centres one hour before the first paper begins to allow time for settling and mental preparation.
Strict regulations will be enforced throughout the examination process. Parents will not be permitted to enter examination halls, and all candidates are prohibited from bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, notes, or any other electronic devices. Additionally, tuition classes related to the examination were halted at midnight on August 5, and promotional activities through print or electronic media are banned until the examination concludes.
Candidates have been instructed to read all question paper instructions carefully, write their index numbers accurately, and provide answers directly on the question paper in legible handwriting. These measures are intended to ensure the examination's integrity and maintain consistent standards across all test centres.
