Authorities have put in place a special traffic management plan in the Kaduwela area to accommodate the annual 'Diya Kapima' procession at Sri Rankadu Paththini Devalaya.
The Kaduwela police announced a temporary traffic plan on 16th to manage congestion during the annual 'Diya Kapima' religious observance at the Sri Rankadu Paththini Devalaya. The procession is scheduled to run between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., affecting major routes in the vicinity.
The ceremonial procession will begin near the temple and traverse the 143 Avissawella–Colombo bus route, crossing the Kaduwela Rajasinghe Bridge before continuing toward Bandarawatta and the Biyagama area. Upon completion of the ritual, the procession is expected to return via the same route through Kaduwela Junction back to the temple.
Police have urged motorists and residents to use alternative routes during the restricted period to reduce traffic buildup. For those affected near Wele Junction, authorities recommend diverting via the 697 bus route along Pattiyawatta Road, transitioning to the 177 Kaduwela–Kollupitiya route, and proceeding through Rajasinghe Mawatha towards Malabe before rejoining the main 143 route.
